The 2015 Plan has drawn from many insights and consultations. It delivers on a number of Australian Government and Council of Australian Governments’ priorities, including:
- A stronger, fairer Australia—the Australian Government’s priority of building a stronger Australia, with a successful economy to deliver on the needs of Australians.
- Social inclusion—the Australian Government’s priority of building a fairer Australia, based on equality of opportunity, a humane safety net and acting on disadvantage.
- Harmonised work health and safety laws—contribute to the seamless transition of the federal jurisdiction to new harmonised laws and reduce the burden of regulation on employers.
- National security—support for the ADF and federal agencies in their work to build a more secure Australia to meet national security challenges.
- Regional Australia—ensuring regional Australia gets fair access to services that reflect its needs and special circumstances.
- 2010 Intergenerational Report—support priorities to plan for an ageing population.
- Review of the Comcare scheme—strengthening the enforcement of work health and safety laws and providing stronger guidance to employers.
- Public Service reform—to support the Australian Government’s blueprint to modernise the public service and make it more citizen centric.
- National health and hospitals reform—improving Australia’s health system by investing in prevention and improving access to primary health care and helping those with mental illness.
- National disability insurance scheme—looking into the feasibility of improved support for people coping with disability.
