In October 2010 the annual Health Month Activities were centred around the theme of ‘Happy at Work—Healthy at Home’. Comcare COO Gaby Medley-Brown officially launched Health Month in October 2011. All activities and seminars were aimed at addressing employees’ health risks as identified earlier in the year.

Throughout Health Month, Comcare staff learned more about mental health and took opportunities to increase movement and exercise in the workplace. They relaxed with tai chi classes, developed core stability, posture and flexibility, worked out with their peers in personal training sessions, ate fresh fruit, became more aware about breast cancer, attended QUIT smoking seminars, and had their hearing checked.

Information sessions were also held on financial health, self-care and emotional resilience, dealing with teenagers, developing compassionate boundaries and dealing with conflict.

During Health Month more than 430 people participated in the activities and seminars designed to increase healthy lifestyle choices. Participation levels show that Comcare employees are conscious of their health and supportive of physical and informative prevention activities.
