Comcare Annual Report 2011-12
The Commission has continued to work this year on ensuring we play our part in delivering on the Australian Government’s vision of a safer, fairer, more productive and socially inclusive Australia.
I am proud to share with you what we have achieved, what we have learned and what we need to do better. These are the stories about the steps we took to deliver on what the community has asked us to do.
Work Health and Safety
This KPI is based on the National OHS Strategy 2002–2012. The scheme has not achieved the Commission’s target, however, has achieved a 27 per cent improvement since 2001–02
‘The support I got getting back to work from everybody was incredible. Certainly family, case managers just everybody, it was incredible when I think about it. I could write a book on it. So there was never issue there. Everybody was just prompting me to move on.’
Tracy says that while she is still not 100 per cent, her life is slowly but surely returning to normal. She said she couldn’t have done any of it without the support of family and friends, and importantly, being able to work throughout her treatment.
Comcare's Graduate Development Program is a vital part of our people strategy, aiming to build organisational capability and invest in future public service leaders
Management and Accountability
At Comcare, our goal is to reduce the time required to return the scheme to a fully funded position while continuing to deliver certainty for workers’ entitlements and minimising the financial impacts on employers.
