We aim to create a diverse and inclusive workplace culture that supports and champions difference and ensures everyone has equal opportunity to participate, contribute and achieve their full potential. The range and nature of our work requires a workforce that reflects our diverse society. We are an inclusive employer and actively encourage and welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and mature-age people. We are committed to providing an environment that values diversity and supports employees to reach their full potential.

To support this, we participate in:

Indigenous Australian Government Development Program

The Indigenous Australian Government Development Program is an entry-level employment and development program of 15 month duration open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The program combines ongoing employment with structured learning and development. The program includes three main components:

  • a diploma-level qualification
  • full-time work experience incorporating on-the-job-training
  • defined complementary structured learning and development opportunities.

Successful participants commence work at the Australian Public Service (APS) level 3 and need to complete each of these three components to successfully complete the program. After successfully completing the program, participants continue to work in a permanent full-time position.

To apply or for more information please visit the Indigenous Australian Government Development Program portal.

Australian Government Indigenous Graduate Recruitment Program

This program provides a pathway to APS employment and promotes the APS as an employer of choice among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tertiary graduates.

Successful candidates will gain diverse hands-on experience in a range of business areas as well as practical experience in their area of expertise.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tertiary Graduates join our Graduate Program and participate in a 12 month, structured and comprehensive learning and development program.

After successfully completing the program, Graduates continue to work in a permanent full-time position.

Stepping Into Program

We participate in the Australian Network on Disability's  Stepping Into Program which is a paid internship program designed specifically for university students with disability.  The program places students into the workplace for 152 hours of paid work over the summer or winter semester breaks.

The intern benefits by gaining valuable work experience, learning new skills and knowledge. The program can be a life-changing experience for participating students, with the program proven to close the gap in employment after graduation for students with disability.
