How is my claim assessed?

After receiving a claim for workers' compensation, Comcare must decide what, if any, benefits the claimant is entitled to.

Your Claims Services Officer (CSO) will be guided by three factors when making a decision about payment for medical treatment:

  • does the treatment constitute treatment as defined by the SRC Act?
  • is the treatment reasonable in the circumstances?
  • is the treatment related to your work-related injury or illness?

How long will it take Comcare to make a decision?

We will give you a written response to your claim within 28 days of receipt. If this response is a decision (determination) of your claim, the written response will include advice about your rights if you do not agree with the determination.
