Injured employees

Under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act), an employee may be able to access compensation for reasonable medical expenses and for time off work, amongst other things, if they are injured or become ill as a result of their employment.

Employees should promptly notify their supervisor of any accident at work in which they are involved or injury which they incur at work.

Claims

The claims section of this site provides injured employees with all the information and forms they need to make a workers' compensation claim. It explains who is covered by the SRC Act and what types of claims can be made. It also outlines the range of benefits that are available under the SRC Act and provides step-by-step instructions on how to make a claim.

Returning to work

Employers are responsible for the rehabilitation of their injured employees. If an employee is likely to be away from work for more than ten days, their employer may arrange a rehabilitation assessment and based on the assessment, a return to work program may be developed.
