Household and attendant care services

A serious work-related injury or illness may make it difficult to cope with home duties. To help you manage day-to-day activities, Comcare may reimburse certain costs.

Household services

Comcare may approve services of a domestic nature you need to properly run and maintain your home that you are no longer able to do as a result of your work-related injury or illness.

Household services may include, but are not limited to:

  • cooking
  • house cleaning
  • laundry
  • gardening services.

Comcare would not normally pay for services it is reasonable to expect other members of your family to carry out, even if these family members did not normally undertake the tasks before your work-related injury or illness.

It is important to note payments for household services are subject to two limits. The first is a weekly maximum limit, which is updated annually. The second is a maximum hourly rate payable to service providers. Comcare will let you know the amount if it approves payment for household services.

How do I claim for household services?

  1. Print out and complete the Application for household or attendant care services form.
  2. Have your medical provider and employer complete the form.
  3. Submit the form to Comcare.
  4. Once you get written approval from Comcare, complete the Medical services claim form and send invoices or receipts to Comcare for payment.

Personal care services

In some circumstances, Comcare may approve personal or attendant care services if you need them as a result of a work-related injury or illness. These are services of a personal nature and include things like help with bathing and dressing.

Payment for attendant care is subject to a weekly maximum limit, which is updated annually.

How do I claim for attendant care services?

  1. Print out and complete the Application for household or attendant care services form.
  2. Have your medical provider complete the form.
