Fraud Control and Investigation Team (FCIT)

Comcare conducts both factual and optical surveillance investigations to either confirm or deny allegations or suspicions of fraud against the programs that Comcare administers.

Comcare’s Fraud Control & Investigation Team (FCIT) is responsible for management of Comcare' Fraud Control Plan and investigations into fraud against Comcare’s Programs.

The primary functions of the team are:

  • Managing the investigation of allegations/suspicions of fraud and abuse of Comcare’s programs
  • Managing and coordinating the use of covert surveillance, where appropriate, to investigate allegations relating to compensation claims
  • Maintaining records of activities and resource allocations in relation to fraud
  • Making detailed recommendations to Comcare and/or customer agencies on appropriate actions resulting from cases investigated
  • Assisting in the provision of appropriate training to staff in the prevention and detection of fraud
  • Developing & monitoring Comcare's Fraud Control Plan
  • Providing advice to Comcare management on all aspects of investigative and law enforcement issues relevant to Comcare
  • Monitoring changes to the "Commonwealth Fraud Control Guidelines" and other similar policies and legislation and implementing relevant changes for Comcare
