| Purpose of this manual |
Purpose of this manual
This manual has been:
- developed by Comcare's Recovery and Support Group for use by its delegates in managing workers' compensation claims and to make decisions in accordance with the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 and other applicable legislation.
- prepared for the general information and assistance of Comcare's Claims Services Officers (CSOs). It contains matters of interpretation and policy, however it is not exhaustive.
Primary audience of this manual
The primary audience of this document is Comcare's staff. It has been released for the information of injured workers, legal representatives, employers, Commonwealth agencies and departments, medical service providers and the general public.
What is in the manual?
The manual has been made available to the general public via the Comcare website. However, certain information has been removed.
The following information has been removed from the online version of the manual:
- administrative work practices that have no bearing on a delegate's decision making ability, e.g system procedural requirements.
- information that could jeopordise the integrity of the Comcare scheme, such as information concerning investigation of possible fraud
The manual supersedes all previous policy and procedural advice including Operational Advices (OA's), Help Desk Reminders (HDR's), Claims Service Delivery (CSD) Procedures and various versions of policy and operations manuals previously used by Claims Service Officers.
Continuous review
This manual is subject to continuous review and subsequent updates will be published on the Comcare website when available.
