2016 National WHS Forums

An important legislative change comes into effect on 1 January 2017 affecting the classification and labelling of chemicals. The 2016 National Work Health and Safety (WHS) Forums will address this change as well as provide the opportunity for attendees to learn and use a simple incident investigation analysis tool.

The program has been divided into two parts to allow attendees to choose to attend a morning,  afternoon or full day session.

The afternoon session is for those who may be required to notify an incident to Comcare. We will provide participants with the opportunity to practice determining whether an incident is notifiable given the criteria provided.

Forum objectives

  • provide an opportunity for attendees to meet their local Comcare inspectors and hear about activities in their region
  • raise awareness of the requirements in implementing the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS)
  • learn how to investigate the cause of incidents by using a simple tool to assist.

After a break, those that wish to attend the afternoon session on understanding incident notification will have the opportunity to workshop some scenarios on determining when to notify Comcare. You will gain a greater understanding of the requirements of incident notification and how to determine if your incidents need to be reported to Comcare.

Who should attend?

This forum is only open to members of Comcare's jurisdiction. It will be relevant to all members of the jurisdiction who work in WHS. Places are limited so please register early.

Comcare has produced a promotional poster for you to print and place around your workplace to encourage attendance at the forums.
