Our 2009 National Conference was held from 23 – 25 September 2009. It presented an opportunity to think differently about making our workplaces safer.
The effective management of workplace injury and disease positively impacts on both the people and financial resources of organisations. Safer workplaces and excellent care for injured workers will increase employee engagement, strengthen morale, enhance workplace relations and increase productivity to improve performance.
As the impact of the economic slowdown is felt more widely, this year’s conference explored the challenges of achieving optimal health, safety and rehabilitation in the workplace. Organisations need to cope with immediate pressures but know how to be flexible and adaptive to respond to future workforce and workplace needs.
Industry experts shared their hard-won insights on effective workplace health and safety practices and identified future opportunities. Speakers explored practical and useful strategies on how to prevent or control safety risks and reduce the human and financial toll of workplace injuries and disease.
This conference allowed participants to network, talk to their industry peers, share their concerns and insights and let their thinking be challenged. As we enter a new phase of workplace safety we all need to ensure we are more responsive and work in partnership to achieve better outcomes, greater deliverables and lower injury rates.
I look forward to meeting you at our next national forum, the Comcare National Seminars Series in March 2010.
