Employers - working with ARPs

The responsibility of engaging an Approved Rehabilitation Provider (ARP) rests with the employer, although this is usually delegated to the role of case manager.

Selecting an ARP

Use the Directory of Approved Rehabilitation Providers to find an ARP with the appropriate expertise who operates in an area convenient to the injured employee.

Understanding the role of an ARP

It is important that employers know the level of service and professional assistance to expect from ARPs to ensure the success of return to work outcomes.

Employers should therefore be familiar with Comcare's ARP approval process, operational standards and ongoing assessment methods.

This information is available on the rehabilitation providers page.

Managing an ARP

Employers and ARPs should negotiate performance issues taking into account Comcare's criteria and standards for ARPs.

Where necessary and appropriate, employers should engage providers under the terms of their normal contracts for services.

Any complaints about provider performance can be reported to Comcare on 1300 366 979.
