Welcome to the Autumn edition of Comcare's
e-newsletter, Safety Essentials. ............................................................
Prevent customer aggression in the workplace Comcare is developing a new publication designed to help you understand and prevent customer aggression in the work place.
Initiated by a request from one of our partner organisations, Comcare facilitated a literature review to gain a better understanding of customer aggression and how different organisations around the world manage it. The literature review is available online.
As a follow on from the review findings, a new publication, Prevention and management of customer aggression, will be available online in July. It summarises employers' and employees' duties of care at work, provides a comprehensive overview of customer aggression and gives practical advice on how to manage this workplace issue.
For more information, email the Prevention & Injury Management Services team.

Revised Claimant Charter Comcare is seeking comments from employers, employees and claimants on its revised Claimant Charter for workers' compensation claims managed by Comcare. The Commonwealth Ombudsman's Office has reviewed the document.
The revised charter seeks to clearly outline what claimants can expect from Comcare in managing their claims and Claimants' responsibilities in assisting Comcare to manage their claims.
Comcare would appreciate the assistance of employers in providing a link to this page on their intranet site so their employees/claimants can have the opportunity to provide feedback.
The revised Claimant Charter and feedback form are available online. ............................................................
Interactive website inspires improved rehabilitation management systems Comcare is a strong believer in returning injured employees to work as soon as they are able, as early return to work is proven to accelerate the recovery process.
Rehabilitation management systems are essential for any organisation committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace. A systems based approach to injury prevention, injury management and return to work supports a positive employment environment.
To support organisations in this process, Comcare has developed a new website Improving outcomes through rehabilitation management systems: a continuous improvement guide. It enables organisations to review their rehabilitation management systems and identify areas for improvement.
The website is broken into five elements, allowing users to conduct a complete review of their system, or alternatively, review one element at a time. It features overviews, practical tips, case studies, better practice examples, links to resources and tables for users to complete in their own self-assessment process. It is due to be released on the Comcare website in the coming months.
Email the Prevention & Injury Management Services team for more information. ...........................................................
Comcare thanks you Comcare would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2009 Comcare employer satisfaction research.
More than 400 people covered by the Comcare scheme completed the online survey which was far more than was expected!
The findings of the research will be used to improve Comcare’s overall programs and service delivery to our partners in the Comcare scheme. ............................................................
