Safe Work Australia has announced the start of the public comment period for 15 draft model Codes of Practice that will accompany the new Work Health and Safety Act due to come into operation at the start of next year.

15 Codes of Practice have been released for comment from today (Monday 26 September) until Friday 16 December 2011. 

From the 1 January next year, new model work health and safety laws will simplify the current system, replacing different laws in each state and territory with one uniform set of laws.

Topics covered in the Codes include Managing Risks of Plant in the Workplace, Safe Design of Building and Structures, and Preventing and Responding to Workplace Bullying.
