Comcare switches off for Earth Hour 2011

In 2011, Comcare will again be participating in Earth Hour by turning off its lights between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm on Saturday 26 March.

Last year, 4616 cities, towns and municipalities across 128 countries took part in Earth Hour. This included 89 national capitals and nine of the world’s 10 most populated cities.

This year, the campaign is encouraging people to ‘go beyond the hour’ by making a pledge to do more for the planet.

Things that you can consider to lower your environmental footprint are:

  • Don’t use a takeaway coffee cup, use your own instead – this will significantly reduce landfill.
  • Eat meat free one day a week – it takes hundreds of litres of water to produce a single kilogram of beef.
  • Don’t leave your appliances on stand by power – turning them off will reduce wasted energy and carbon.
