During February and March 2011 Comcare will be hosting workshops and focus groups around Australia on the model regulations and codes of practice.
Harmonised occupational health and safety laws have long been recognised as a critical area of regulatory reform. In July 2008 the Council of Australian Governments signed an Inter-Governmental Agreement. This established the commitment of the Commonwealth and all states and territories to adopt uniform work health and safety laws by the end of 2011, complemented by nationally consistent approaches to compliance and enforcement.
Comcare will be hosting general harmonisation workshops and focus groups on the model regulations and codes of practice around Australia during February and March 2011. For dates and locations please see:
The workshops aim to promote discussion on issues, challenges and opportunities associated with the transition to new Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws. Ideas and feedback from the workshops will inform the design and delivery of products and services to assist you to prepare and transition to the new WHS laws.
The focus groups will explore the model WHS Regulations package which was recently released by Safe Work Australia for public comment. Comcare is hosting these focus groups to assist you during the public comment period. Our aim is to help you identify the major changes and challenges the model WHS laws may present to your business.
Who should attend the workshops?
The workshops provide a valuable opportunity for a wide range of workers in our jurisdiction. Comcare encourages you to nominate, or seek nominations from the following target group/s or individuals within your organisation:
If you are an OHS practitioner or OHS professional within the jurisdiction please register your interest for a session.
