Comcare would like to advise health and safety representatives (HSRs), employers, employees and training providers that the HSR review has commenced.
In December 2008 the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (SRCC) endorsed a review of the HSR Training Course Accreditation Program. The purpose of the review is to:
- improve the outcome for HSRs through quality courses accredited in a cost effective manner in reasonable timeframes
- review and consider significant developments taking place in the industry framework, models of accreditation, the use of core elements/model curricula and the models of accreditation used in other jurisdictions
- assess any impacts these have on the HSR Training Course Accreditation Program established under the Guidelines for Accreditation of Occupational Health and Safety training courses for Health and Safety representatives under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1991 approved by the SRCC.
The consultant on behalf of Comcare will be inviting relevant stakeholders to provide comment by way of survey or invitation for a face-to-face forum.
