Sedentary work practices toolkit

This toolkit is a collection of information, guidance materials and templates that can help workplaces develop and apply an organisational strategy to reduce prolonged sitting in the workplace.

Prolonged sitting poses significant risks to the health of workers and to the organisations they work for. Risks include chronic disease and early death for workers, and loss of productivity for organisations.

Tools for reducing sedentary practices in the workplace

More information on the risks of sedentary work practices and cost-effective strategies to reduce risks and promote work health is below.

Example tools

The following is an example of a poster developed for use in Comcare's Melbourne office. This poster can be adapted for use in other workplaces and locations.

See our Sedentary work webpage for more information about sedentary practices. More evidence regarding best-practice approaches to reducing prolonged sitting is available at the Reducing prolonged sitting in the workplace evidence review by VicHealth.
