Engagement

Comcare has engaged Professor Niki Ellis as an expert advisor to lead national conversation with the medical and broader community about the health benefits of work. An advisory group of experts from medical, community and government organisations are also providing strategic input and direction to the programme.

Work for Health Advisor - Professor Niki Ellis OAM

Niki Ellis OAMProfessor Niki Ellis OAM was appointed as Comcare's Work for Health Advisor in May 2015.

Professor Ellis will work closely with the Health Benefits of Work Programme Team as well as collaborating with doctors, employers and our government partners. She will also participate in the Health Benefits of Work Advisory Group, driving engagement in the areas of employment, injury insurance, health and social welfare.

Professor Ellis is an occupational and public health physician with expertise in policy development, systems level change, evaluation and the social context of medicine. She brings a wealth of experience in the area of vocational medicine to the role.

Her expertise in these fields means that she is sure to have strong credibility in the workers' compensation and vocational rehabilitation fields. Professor Ellis has recently been awarded the Medal (OAM) of The Order of Australia in the general division for her service to medical research, particularly to occupational and public health.

Health Benefits of Work Advisory Group

The Health Benefits of Work Programme is guided by an expert Advisory Group consisting of government leaders and professionals with expertise and experience in promoting the health benefits of work. The Advisory Group will provide us with strategic direction and advice on the elements of the programme, and future opportunities to further realise the health benefits of work.

The Advisory Group has been appointed for two years and will meet quarterly.
