Injury Management Advisory Service

The Injury Management Advisory Service provides assistance to rehabilitation case managers, supervisors, workplace rehabilitation providers and employees with compensation claims. The aim of this service is to improve return to work rates and return employees safely and durably back to the workplace after illness or injury.

In the Comcare scheme, rehabilitation is the legislative responsibility of the employer, however, Comcare's Injury Management Advisory Service is available to provide rehabilitation support and assist in developing strategies to improve return to work and return to health outcomes.

The Injury Management Advisory Service will:

  • assist with developing early intervention strategies for ill or injured employees to maximise the likelihood of a good return to work outcome
  • help identify potential high cost claims and collaborate with the rehabilitation authority to develop strategies to ensure claim costs are reasonable and appropriate
  • provide support in identifying and promoting rehabilitation and injury management practices that result in better return to work outcomes
  • facilitate case conferences with all stakeholders to assist in the rehabilitation management of complex claims
  • deliver targeted rehabilitation development education sessions to help improve rehabilitation case manager capability
  • support Rehabilitation Case Manager Networks in most capital cities
  • provide advice on developing effective rehabilitation management systems
  • help with a question or issue about rehabilitation in the Comcare scheme.

Email IMAS.help@comcare.gov.au or call Comcare on 1300 366 979 and ask to be put through to an Injury Management Advisor.
