Rehabilitation Information for Employees
General Information
For most work-related injuries, there is no time away from work, or it takes only a short time before you are back to your normal job. However, with some injuries and diseases, occupational rehabilitation and/or a gradual return to work may be required. There are many return to work options available to you even if you are not fully fit.
Your employer, through your Case Manager, should discuss your return to work with you as soon as possible. Your Case Manager may arrange to have your capability of undertaking a return to work program assessed and if appropriate, you may be required to undertake a return to work program. Such a program would be devised and monitored by a Comcare approved rehabilitation provider.
Approved rehabilitation providers are health professionals who specialise in occupational rehabilitation. Comcare’s approved providers include occupational therapists, rehabilitation counsellors, psychologists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, and social workers. You can help choose your rehabilitation provider but the final decision rests with your Case Manager.
