Applying to become an Approved Assessor

Comcare is inviting suitably qualified individuals or organisations to apply to be an Approved Assessor under the approval scheme for assessors in Part 9 of the Occupational Health and Safety (Safety Standards) Regulations 1994.

A person, an organisation or a statutory authority of a State or Territory may apply to Comcare for approval as an assessor.

Approved Assessors must have appropriate qualifications, skill and experience to assess safety reports. Applicants will hold suitable tertiary qualifications in structural, mechanical, process, electrical, chemical or metallurgical engineering; and demonstrate a minium of five years experience in these fields.

Applicants also need to demonstrate high level analytical and problem-solving skills, highly developed communication skills, knowledge and understanding of occupational health and safety, planning and environmental legislative frameworks and an understanding and awareness of current and emerging issues related to major hazard facilities safety management and control.

Comcare will accept applications to be an approved assessor on an ongoing basis.
