Document Store Air-conditioning

Check it

Air flow

(rate of change)

  • Insufficient volume of air through the area
  • Unacceptably low rate of air (velocity) flowing
  • Arrange for rate of air change to be measured, and if necessary have air flow rate adjusted to design rate (refer to AS 1668.2-2002 section 4).

Air temperature

  • Unacceptably high or low indoor air temperatures occurring during extremes of climatic conditions.
  • Check that there is proper air circulation and this is not being interfered with by high shelving bays.

Humidity

  • Unacceptably high or low levels of relative humidity in workplace.
  • Have humidity in document store measured and system adjusted to designed humidity level.

Contaminant removal

  • Unacceptable levels of dust or other particles (eg. pollen) in indoor air.
  • Ensure that filters are of the correct type to remove expected contaminants
  • Ensure that filters are being cleaned in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

Disease control

  • Spread of harmful bacteria via central air-conditioning system.
  • Ensure that air-conditioning equipment is being serviced according to manufacturers instructions.
  • Ensure that checks are being carried out for the detection and measurement of harmful bacteria, in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
