Where there are designated work groups (DWGs) established, employers are responsible for organising the election of HSRs. If there is a vacancy in the office of HSR, employers must invite nominations from all employees in the DWG for election as the HSR within a reasonable timeframe. The goal of HSR training is for participants to acquire the knowledge and skills to enable them to exercise their powers for the purposes of promoting and ensuring the health and safety at work of the members of the DWG.
