OHS in contractor management

Occupational health and safety (OHS) in contractor management is a complex issue that has a number of variables impacting on employer and contractor obligations.

Some of the issues employers need to be aware of include:

  • how a contractor is engaged
  • under what circumstances
  • who the contractor is
  • where the contractor is working
  • who has control of the site
  • the type of work being conducted.

Comcare conducted the annual National Seminar series throughout March 2009 across Australia with one session providing a workshop for participants to share their challenges, expertise and have the opportunity to develop contacts to assist in managing the OHS of contractors.
