The Australian Government recognises the important role of the workplace in promoting and supporting healthy lifestyles. In 2011, the Hon Nicola Roxon MP—Minister for Health and Ageing, launched a Joint Statement of Commitment promoting good health at work, demonstrating the commitment of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Australian Industry Group, the Business Council of Australia and the Council of Small Business of Australia and the Australian Council of Trade Unions, to ensuring the long-term health and wellbeing of the Australian workforce.
