Changes to Verification Inspection Reference Numbers (News)

08 March 2019

In response to feedback, Comcare are making system improvements to verification inspection numbers.

Comcare conducts inspections in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth) and our Compliance and Enforcement Policy (PDF, 144.0 KB). A verification inspection may be conducted to follow up on matters raised during an initial inspection or investigation, such as recommendations or non-compliances, at a later point in time.

Currently the reference number assigned to a verification inspection has no association with the reference number of the original inspection or investigation it relates to.

In response to feedback received, we have made system improvements to link the reference numbers together. These changes will come into effect from mid-June 2019.

Our new reference numbers have been summarised below.

Comcare Activity Type Reference Number Examples
Notification NOT00000123
Inspections and investigations MC00000123
Verification inspections MC00000123 – VR01
Note – The VR reference will increase by one for each subsequent verification inspection completed, with the original MC prefix remaining the same.
