Day of the Seafarer 2020 (News)

25 June 2020

Comcare is supporting Day of the Seafarer on 25 June – an international awareness day to highlight the importance of this critical industry sector and its workforce.

Maritime operations are integral to a number of entities in our scheme. Comcare also provides advice and support to the Seafarers Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Authority which covers around 4,000 seafarers working on prescribed ships involved in various trade and commerce.

This year is the 10th international Day of the Seafarer, part of the United Nations’ annual list of observations. In 2020, the UN’s International Maritime Organization is highlighting the unique work of seafarers, recognising their essential role in maintaining the flow of vital goods during the COVID-19 pandemic.

More information about Day of the Seafarer is available on the International Maritime Organization website.
