Comcare has collaborated in the development of clinical guidelines and an assessment video for GPs.
Comcare recognises the critical role General Practitioners (GPs) play in helping people with ill health or injury to recover and participate in work. We have supported the development of two new resources for GPs.
Comcare took part in developing the Clinical Guidelines for the diagnosis and management of work-related mental health conditions in General Practice to foster a nationally consistent approach to supporting better health and work outcomes for Australians with work-related mental health conditions. The guidelines provide an opportunity to reduce clinical uncertainties and increase the evidence-based support for GPs to assist recovery.
Comcare supports the implementation of these guidelines and anticipates that the guidelines will progress the quality of the conversations between GPs and their patients for work-related mental health conditions and injuries resulting in improvements in recovery at and return to work.
Comcare has also collaborated with WorkSafe Victoria to adapt a video by Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Dielle Felman for national use. The Assessing capacity for patients with a psychological condition video or video transcript provides information and recommendations for GPs on how to assess capacity for patients with a psychological condition.
