Can I sign up to the Employer Portal with my personal email address?
No. You must sign up to the Employer Portal using your @defence.gov.au email address.
If I have already signed up to the Employee Portal, do I need to sign up to the Employer Portal?
No. The account you have setup for the Employee Portal will work on the Employer Portal too. You won't need to verify your ID if you have already done this.
Do I need to verify my identity to use the Employer Portal?
Yes. Once you have created your account you will be prompted to complete a short identify verification exercise. You will need two different forms of government issued ID.
A full list of these is available during the verification process.
Why does Comcare need me to verify my identity?
The requirement to verify your identity is to protect your HRWL information. Comcare needs to be certain that you are who you say you are.
Does Comcare store my personally identifiable information?
No. Comcare does not store your personally identifiable information that you supply during the identity verification process. The service that performs the verification check has been through a rigorous security assessment by Comcare and looks up the provider of your chosen identity to check in real-time, without storing your details.
If I have provided my personal contact details, but do not have my ID details available, can I save my progress and complete it later?
Yes. While completing your personal contact details, you can click 'Save and Close'. You can then come back to continue at a later stage.
Does Comcare store my credit card details?
No. Comcare does not store your credit card details. This is handled by an approved service provider who securely processes your payment.
Why can't I see any HRWL applications to review or pay for?
You will only be able to view HRWL applications that have been assigned to you for review and/or payment.
If you have received a message informing you to review/pay for a HRWL application, but you are not able to see the application(s), contact Comcare at WHS.Help@comcare.gov.au or call 1300 366 979 (press '2' for Work Health and Safety, then '2' for HRWL enquiries).
What is a Payment Officer?
The Payment Officer is a person within your organisation who is responsible to review HRWL applications to ensure all the information and documents provided meet Comcare's requirements, and in some cases pay the application fee.
A Payment Officer is nominated while the applicant is completing their HRWL application. A Payment Officer will only be able to review and/or pay for applications that have been assigned to them.
What if the Payment Officer isn't available?
If the Payment Officer assigned to an HRWL application isn't available, the Business Admin for the organisation will be able to review and pay for applications on their behalf.
What is a Business Admin?
The Business Admin has been nominated to have oversight of all HRWL applications for an organisation. They will be able to review and/or pay for all HRWL applications related to their organisation.
How will I be notified if a HRWL application has been assigned to me to review and/or pay for?
You will receive a message via the Employer Portal informing you of the application that has been assigned to you for review and/or payment.
You will also receive an email informing you that you have a message in the Employer Portal to view.
How will I be notified if a HRWL application has been assigned to me to review and/or pay for if I have never used the Employer Portal before?
When you haven't used the Employer Portal before, and a HRWL applicant has nominated you as the Payment Officer, you will receive an email inviting you to sign up for the Employer Portal as a Payment Officer.
If you have used the Employee Portal in the past, you will receive an email informing you that you have been nominated as Payment Officer including a link to login to the Employer Portal (using the same credentials as the Employee Portal).
