Asbestos and dust conditions

Exposure to asbestos and some dust conditions can be a health risk. Organisations have legal responsibilities to protect the health of their workers.

Work health and safety legislation includes responsibilities related to asbestos, a substance that is dangerous when it becomes airborne and is inhaled.

Any removal of asbestos must be carried out by a licensed asbestos removalist.

There are situations involving asbestos when you must notify Comcare under the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011.

Crystalline silica (also known as silica) is silicon dioxide. It is naturally occurring and can be found in rocks, soils, sand, concrete and mortar.
