Return To Work Pilot confirms positive outcomes

A final evaluation report has found strong and statistically significant evidence that the Comcare commissioned EML Your Future program had a positive effect on RTW outcomes of participants in the Comcare scheme.
Comcare partnered with EML to pilot the Your Future program, which aimed to change the employment outlook for long-term injured workers.
Commencing in November 2021, the pilot targeted workers who had been unsuccessful with returning to work with their pre-injury employer using the traditional rehabilitation framework. At its conclusion in October 2022, it had achieved a number of positive results, including:
- 37 registrations out of 126 invitations
- 34 workers completing a program (program options included a 26-week full, or 6-8 week fast-track program)
- 10 durable return to work outcomes.
The evaluation findings indicated a higher RTW rate (37.9%) for program participants, compared to non-program participants (11.7%).

Comcare has established an ongoing service offering through EML through to 30 June 2024, focused on employee job readiness, recovery and return to 'good work', or to help with career development. Comcare is considering how we can continue to deliver the service offering beyond this time.
