Claims and benefits

If you have a work-related injury or illness, you may be able to receive compensation from Comcare. But before starting the claims process, it is a good idea to find out whether you are covered by the Comcare scheme, and what types of claims you are entitled to make. This means talking to your employer about whether the terms of your employment mean you are covered under the scheme.

Who is entitled?

The Comcare scheme covers employees working for:

  • Commonwealth Government agencies and statutory authorities
  • ACT Government and agencies.
  • Corporations who have been granted a licence to self insure, provided the date of injury was after the date of the licence.

Benefits and entitlements

Benefits and entitlements you may be eligible for include:

  • medical expenses
  • travel costs
  • household and attendant care services
  • aids, appliances and modifications
  • incapacity benefits
  • permanent impairment
  • death and funeral benefits.
