Approval and renewal of rehabilitation providers
Who can apply
You can apply if you are an organisation or individual who meets the application criteria.
How to apply for approval or renewal
The current application process for approvals and renewals closed on 31 December 2019.
Current approvals are valid until 30 June 2020 and we are processing renewal applications. Approvals are valid for three years.
The application process for new applicants opens from 1 July 2020. If you would like to apply to operate as a workplace rehabilitation provider, we recommend you email email@example.com or call us on 1300 366 979. We can discuss the requirements and process with you.
Please note that this is an approval process, not a certification process.
When applications are open, you need to provide supporting documents in your application. This includes:
- evidence of appropriate insurances
- details of principals, senior management and consultants
- signed declaration.
When we review your application, we may ask for additional information to support your application.
You must pay a non-refundable fee as part of the application process.
New applicant fee
The application fee for new applicants is $2000.
If you are renewing, the application fee varies depending on how many states and territories you are seeking approval in:
- $1000 for Comcare approval in one state or territory
- $3000 for Comcare approval in two to three states or territories
- $5000 for Comcare approval in four or more states or territories.

Criteria for approval
These criteria relate to your qualifications, probity and financial arrangements.
Comcare set minimum standards workplace rehabilitation providers need to achieve throughout the approval period. They relate to effectiveness, availability and cost of service delivery.
Conditions for ongoing approval
There are conditions you must continue to comply with once you have been approved. Failing to comply with these conditions may result in cancelling your approval.
