Approval and renewal as a Workplace Rehabilitation Provider

Workplace Rehabilitation Providers (WRPs) are organisations approved, by Comcare, to deliver workplace rehabilitation services to support employees to recover at and return to work.

What is Comcare’s approval and renewal framework?

Under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988, Comcare can:

  • initially approve a person or organisation to be a WRP
  • renew the approval for a person or organisation to be a WRP.

You must review Comcare’s WRP framework to ensure you are eligible to apply and are aware of the standards and performance expectation for WRPs in the scheme:

What are Comcare’s timeframes for approval and renewal?

  • Application process opens on the Comcare website 18 November 2019
  • Application process closes on 31 December 2019
  • Applicants, both initial and renewal, informed of the outcome by June 2020
  • New approval period commences 1 July 2020 for a three year period

How do I apply for approval or renewal as a WRP in the Comcare scheme?

To apply to operate or to be renewed as a WRP in the Comcare scheme you need to complete an online application.

You will be required to pay non-refundable fees as part of the online application process:

  • Initial application fee of $2000
  • Renewal application fee varies depending on how many states and/or territory you are seeking approval in:
    • $1000 for Comcare approval in 1 state and/or territory
    • $3000 for Comcare approval in 2-3 states and/or territories
    • $5000 for Comcare approval in 4 or more states and/or territories

You will be required to provide supporting documentation, including:

  • Evidence of appropriate insurances
  • Details of Principals, senior management and consultants
  • Signed declaration
